Ways to Show Appreciation to Employees and Coworkers

No occasion is needed when it comes to recognizing the contributions of your employees and coworkers. In fact, small tokens of appreciations are enough to spread the message that you value them. Here are some ways of praising and thanking coworkers.

Praise what they have done well – Identify the deed or achievement that they have done to the company.

Say thanks – A simple "thank you" can be enough to show your appreciation for their hard work. It is also best to be nice and say "please".

Get to know them more – Ask your coworkers about their family, hobbies, or anything interesting that they have been up to. Your genuine interest towards your coworkers makes them feel valued and cared about. However, avoid being too nosey about them.

Offer flexible schedules – You can provide flexible working hours for your coworkers especially during holidays. However, you need to make sure that they can balance their time off with other employees as well.

Present small gifts – Some companies provide small gifts to their employees during special occasions such as Valentine’s Day. These small tokens can light up their day. If you can afford to, give monetary bonuses to your employees as well.

Treat them to lunch – Take coworkers to lunch for their birthday or other special occasions. Let them pick the restaurant as well.

Create a fun tradition for a seasonal holiday – Provide a fun activity during the holidays especially the Christmas season. Some companies do a secret gift swap while others pile all of their gifts and then raffle them out. You can also do fun activities even on ordinary days.

Provide opportunity – Your employees want chances for training and other career developments. Also, provide activities where their talents are noticed. Industry gatherings and philanthropic events are also recommended.
