Employment Ending Checklist

Here’s a termination checklist that should be reviewed in advance of every termination decision.

Check if the rule that has been violated

Know if the employee receives a personal written copy of the rule violated.

Make sure you have complied the letter with any applicable progressive disciplinary policy.

Make sure if other employees have violated the rule, these employee they receive the same disciplinary action as the at-issue employee.

Analyze if it is the incident that triggered the final warning.

Check if company evidence includes names of witnesses, dates, time, places.

Check if the degree of discipline imposed on this employee related to the serious.

Review decision from a jury’s perspective.

Take your time. To weight the cost of litigation against the benefit derived.
